This amp is extremly rare and hard to find. It was the top of the line amp in 1988 and is a completely different pre amp compared to the DAP 2500, which is much easier to find. The digital and analog sections are hermetically separated from each other. You will find 2 capsuled power transformers with own power supplies. This provides the best possible signal to noise ratio combined with breathtaking dynamics.

This DAP 5500 features 5 analog inputs, one of them is a symmetrical cannon XLR connection. 2 monitor ways are available for tape monitoring. Very rare and useful is the DAC out. Here you have a direct analog output from the internal converters. Finally, there are 2 pre outs, one of them is RCA and the other is is a symmetrical cannon XLR connection.

On the digital side, you can connect 2 coaxial and one optical device. Further there is a coaxial monitor loop for DAT or CD-Recorders.

Taking a closer look to the workmanship and finish, there is not much to say exept: " There has not been anything like this before and after". Denon really gave everything here. It comes in mint, like new condition from its orig. owner in its original box. You won´t find a better one.
